NEWS
07.27.07 Here I am, still shedding blood for the good fight.
09.20.06 - I put this video on my music page of me playing guitar for a Chinese audience. I'm currently creating a 'video' page with all the bells and whistles, and updating my 'artwork' page. I'm kicking around now looking for a good company to work for. Had a crazy dream last night where I was on this airship with an arcade, with games like Raiden and Pac Man, and the clouds were becoming omnious; starting to peel off in sheets of ice; and I woke up realizing that I was dreaming two different scenarios at once. I gotta stop eating ice cream with Splenda at night.
09.12.06- I Uploaded my most recent demo reel HERE.
09.08.06 - So tons of stuff has happened recently. A few changes occured in the universe, and BAM, Nathan moves back to the United States, gets married, and starts working in the film industry again. Well, it's weird to me. But I rather like the US. After such a long stint in the Orient, it would seem that the culture recovery would be an arduous one; but so far it has been pretty smooth. I find myself comparing the two cultures quite frequently; often in favor of China, but I can't help but notice the long stretches of trees here; the clean smell of Blockbuster, carpet, listening to the radio in my car, and speaking English. Pleasantries are found in smallest of details. And I love avacadoes.
6.12.06 - I set
up my studio properly. Have a nice painting area that I've been
working on 3 dimentional paintings; which can be viewed with
3D glasses... I'm also set up for recording whenever I feel
the need; but I've been laying off the music demon lately. I'm
slowly learning that it might not be my scene. "And if
my dreams a' don't come true; well, I'll be movin' on."
I'll have some more Dead Forest comics
soon, as well as a photo gallery from that badass Sub's concert
at Harley's. Those dudes blew my mind.
6.02.06 - So, I've been playing
music with some people lately; I put a live track that was recorded
up in Taiyuan under music.
I took some pictures of some bands:
(Flyer designed by myself)... this show should be pretty rad.
If you haven't seen these guys; they're really awsome. To quote
Rindy "classic, dusty-pants blues meets funk jamming that's
not afraid to go psychedelic."
I'll have some videos coming soon. My life has been spending
reading a lot; and the easel has been waiting for my companionship
for some time now. I've been trying to play music; but I think
that omniscent forces have been preventing me from doing so:
encouraging me into art. What a long strange trip it's been.
4.30.2006 - Cool
stuff happening lately. Remember 4.11.2006's entry? Well, I
had an exhibition up at this bar called Shuffle, which was cool,
and I sold two pieces; and led me to the people I needed to
meet, which over the course of the next few weeks; sold 5 more.
Which is rad. However, a few weeks ago; before I left for Hong
Kong, the exhibition was suddenly taken down. My girlfriend
works with an older lady named Bonnie that was very excited
to "see my work" which meant good things to my ears.
Well, she told Shelbye (my gf) the following Monday that the
work had been taken down. Bonnie then asked someone that worked
at Shuffle where my work was. Their response: "It was taken
down at the request of the artist."
Hmmmmmm....
So a few weeks pass by and we come to
today, when I find out what REALLY happened. I spoke to someone
from Shuffle on the phone, who told me that the bar's Feng Shui
master guy walked into the bar one night, having nver seen my
work, and it scared him out of his wits. He ordered for the
immediate taking down of my work. The reason: "It would
ruin the business if it stayed up." Shuffle seemed apologetic
for me for what happened; and it balances itself a bit because
I'm into Feng Shui myself... but when a system of beliefs gets
in the way of progress of an artist or individual; I don't very
much like that system of beliefs.
4.20.2006 -
So I was deported. Deported from China. I know what you're
thinking. That's nuts. Well, it was. I was sent to Hong Kong
to remedy my visa situation with the government of China and
yadda yadda yadda. Anywho, I had no money, so unfortunately,
I not only had to sleep on the street while I was there, I also
had to panhandle for money and sell my artwork for dirt cheap
in order to earn enough money to return to Shanghai, where
I am now living with my girlfriend in a lovely apartment in
Pudong. This was all very bad and very good at the same time;
as life is for me at the moment. it's good and bad at the same
time; but always moving forward; which is rad. I met a ton of
people while I was in Hong Kong. One night, I was sleeping on
the street, and the next night I met a charming young lady named
Chloe, who let me stay at her house. So I'm thinking I'll be
"crashing at a pad tonight right"? Well, as it turns
out, this girl's father was the owner of the two largest radio
stations in Hong Kong, and had an enormous mansion. If you've
ever heard the Jimmy Buffet song "Gypsies in Paradise"...well,
then you know what I'm talking about. If not, you're the other
echelon on folks that think that Jimmy Buffet is shit. I guess
you're right too. Well, to be honest, I wasn't "sleeping
on the street".... I say that simply for shock value. Besides,
I'm far too resourceful for that. I slept at a temple by the
ocean; the trees sillouetted against the moon accompanied by
the sound of the ocean waves nearby. During the days that I
slept at the temple, I was awoken several times a night by startlingly
frightening police officers, that, after a time of getting to
know me and what I was going through; began to respect my situation
and finally admitted to having known how frustrating the visa
situation is in China for many foriegn residents. Well; in short,
I sold 2 paintings while I was down there, and had an unforgettable
experience.
4.11.2006- I have been busy lately.
I moved to Shanghai, and set up a studio. I had my first artshow
in the city last month that went quite well. I sold 5 pieces.
Fuckyea! I have decided to spend more time on my Dead
Forest comic, as a signed print of it was the first piece
to be sold. I wanna get it into a newspaper or something, so
if you know anyone tell me. If you're in Shanghai, the show
will be until April 20th or so at Shuffle www.shufflebar.com.
12.12.2005 - I convinced a barowner
here in Taiyuan, China to let me design his poolroom. It looked
like crap before I made it look like even more crap. I made
the furniture, painted the walls, and drove myself nearly goddamn
insane after the 80 hours, 5 gallons of paint, 25 cans of spray
paint or so it took me.
Well anywho, he paid me well. Check it out HERE.
